The first time I?ve ever missed a flight

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

Whoops… I somehow managed to miss my flight to Edinburgh today. I ever got up extra early, but alas, it wasn’t early enough. The check in had closed about 10 minutes before I arrived at Heathrow’s terminal 5.

I’m usually really anal about things like checking in etc… but I guess when it’s business, I’m not too worried. The good thing about travelling with my company is that we book Business Class, so I just checked in for the next flight and am now ‘lounging’ in the Terminal 5 Lounges. It’s an amazing building… very space age and all that. I partcularly like the lounge that I’m in. Here’s a piccy of it:

Hopefully I’ll make it to Dalkeith, where I’m supposed to be meeting someone a 11am. EEK! Wish me luck!

New LGMC Season: Various Voices and Helsinki

Monday, January 12th, 2009

The new London Gay Men’s Chorus season has officially started, and it looks like it will be a good one. There’s a lot of activity going on at the moment… new starts, new repertoire to learn and new Production Managers! It’s all very exciting!

LGMC is spear-heading the Various-Voices London event which will be held at the London Southbank area during 2009, and this forms the main part of what the LGMC will be doing this season. We’ll also be taking the season’s repertoire to Helsinki for their Pride Festival. All very exciting!

Check out the link to the Various Voices website for more information, and I’m sure there will be loads more posts about what we’re doing to prepare for the performances.

Television is getting worse!

Sunday, January 11th, 2009

I don’t know about you, but I’ve noticed that over the past few months, television has been getting progressively worse. Not just the quality of the actual programs, but in general, what is being put on our screens by the guru’s who sit in the silver towers of the BBC and other private networks!

For example, the new season of Gladiators. Now, not only are we forced to watch the hooped up madness of muscle-bound hunks and scary females with WAY too much muscle, we have to endure the stupidity of that muppet, Wolf! I thought the constant screaming of that presenter guy was bad enough… but they’ve just compounded the pain with another screaming freak!

I’d also like to point out that EVERY episode of The Simpsons, Scrubs and Frasier has been played more than once, and yet… we are STILL made to watch the repeats!  What the hell are we paying for?! It’s like paying to see the same film in the cinema twice! What’s the point?! I understand that the number of shows and productions coming out of TV land is not enough to satisfy moany people like me… but then… when you consider the number of student productions and other possible things that could be put on air, why do we need to watch the same thing over and over and over again?!?!?!

I for one think that the television executives are taking it upon themselves to force us self-confessed couch potatoes out of the comfort of our sofas and back into the wild open air of the outside world! How dare they !!! ;)
